Description

VERSION ends up in /etc/version

However the name of the image is derived from TRAIN (see build/nano_env)

Since TRAIN = 9.3-STABLE and VERSION = 9.3.1 you end up with install files named FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-x64.iso that install 9.3.1

This seems a tad...confusing.

(Impossible to set seen in intelligently for this bug)

History

#1 Updated by Josh Paetzel about 5 years ago

This also affects the naming of the boot environments, which are named after the train as well.

  • Assignee changed from Jordan Hubbard to Sean Fagan

Over to Sean, since he was the one who wanted to keep the train the same (and is responsible for the concept of TRAIN in our build overall). He must have some way of unsnarling this mess.

I'm not clear on what "the mess" is.

There are multiple naming things going on: train, version, and sequence. According to you, the build sets VERSION to the same as SEQUENCE. TRAIN is simply how it's categorized.
