Description

hi support,

given that I'm trapped with 2 live systems, 9.10.2 that can't be upgraded to corral (because of new rule) and corral 10 that can't be downgraded (different train) I'm trying to make the best out of this situation.

I wanted to use peering with corral 10, but its not supported in 9.10.2. I tried to use replication instead but this looks completely different on 10 as well.

could you help me set up replication from 9.10.2 to Corral 10.0.4 ?

William, the forums basically confirm what I am saying, its not possible. So why are you so dismissive?

I can't go back on a live system, and I can't go forward with another. your team has made a decision to fork a system after its already released, its an impossible state for those caught in the middle. Replication the way its implemented with 9.10.2 does not work in 10 Corral. 10 Corral Peering doesn't work with 9.10.2.

Until I replaced it with FN11-nightlies this weekend, I had replication from 9.10 to Corral working. There's no magic about it: it's an ssh connection, so you need to add the replication public key to the root account on the Corral box. From the Corral box's perspective, it's just something logging in via ssh and running "zfs receive." Ignore all references to peering on the Corral box.

I am not dismissive, like I said, this is not a user help forum.

9.10.2 can replicate to any system which has SSH and ZFS. 9.10.2 can even replicate to a Linux box with ZFS On Linux.

thanks for explaining Sean, what about the auth token on the 9.10.2 side?

You said replicate from 9.10 to Corral. When doing that, you don't need to do anything with the Corral box other than add the replication public key to root's account on the corral box.

Replicating from Corral to 9.10 is not possible.

Replicating from Corral to 9.10 is not possible.

in the add replication dialog of 9.10, there is a required field "remote Auth Token" when semi auto mode was selected, I've disabled and she's good. thanks again
