Description
In moving to a hard disk boot device for reliability during testing, I noticed that the built-in S.M.A.R.T. services do not appear to work with a non-flash/S.M.A.R.T.-enabled boot device.
First sign: Alert System reports: WARNING: May 26, 2017, 11:34 a.m. - smartd is not running.
Second sign: Tasks: S.M.A.R.T. Tests: Add S.M.A.R.T. Test does not show the boot HDD/SSD, despite it supporting S.M.A.R.T. and being quite appropriate for monitoring.
