Out of curiosity, why the nightlies? They can be in a state of brokenness at any point in time and are not recommended for production use.

#5 Updated by Haggis Haggis almost 3 years ago

I selected the wrong 11.0 iso when migrating from Corral and as swapping to Stable is considered a downgrade, I didn't want to reconfigure the system.

#6 Updated by Dru Lavigne almost 3 years ago

You can do an install of U4 and still keep your nightly boot env if you remember to select "Install in new boot environment" in this install screen: http://doc.freenas.org/11/_images/upgrade5.png. Please do that and indicate whether or not the issue persists on a U4 install.

#7 Updated by Haggis Haggis almost 3 years ago

Hi, I couldn't do an upgrade install on U4 (it seems to be installing okay, installing the base os .., but then hits an error "ZFS doesn't support block lists, hit any key"

#8 Updated by Dru Lavigne almost 3 years ago

Thas sounds like the USB stick is failing. Can you try a fresh install of U4 on a different stick?

#9 Updated by Haggis Haggis almost 3 years ago

It wasn't the USB stick.
I managed to install the stable version, however it can up with a number of configuration issues. I tried then to factory reset (worked without error) however, when importing the saved configuration, it can up with a number of errors (e.g. looking at System dataset gave python errors relating to missing columns).
I then went back to the nightly version and did an update. The latest nightly no longer has this error.

I am a bit concerned on how I go back to stable sometime in the future.

You can close the original bug issue.

That makes sense. You can't use a config from a newer version (eg nightlies) on an older version (eg stable). When you do decide to move to stable, you will need to create a new config.
