Description

Hi,

Hope someone can shed some light on this for me, I had a search on the net and couldn't make heads nor tails of it (sorry).
Since coming across back into Freenas 11 from Coral I have had little issues popping up all across the board from prior to Coral the machine never skipped a beat, she's probs getting older too so none the less..
I have been seeing "frequency" alerts on restarts, researched and basically "not to worry" was the end resolve, this one however just want to clarify if I could.

ntpd1878: frequency error -1112 PPM exceeds tolerance 500 PPM.

Attached debug, pls let me know :-)

Hi,

Sorry about that, I thought there was an error when I logged, it should have attached from the console. Please find as requested.

  • Seen in changed from Unspecified to 11.0-U4

Craig: your logs look pretty good, other than the fact that you're using a Realtek NIC.

Try the instructions in this post and let ud know if it gets rid of the NTP error message: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/solved-ntpd-wont-keep-correct-time-frequency-drift-too-large.23900/

I did add an entry in the NTP servers section "0.pool.ntp.org" and set that to prefer, when I as looking over the console messages this evening I didn't notice any warnings as I normally have seen previously. Do you think this could have played a part in the lack of messages perhaps?

Yes, that would make sense. Should I close this ticket as resolved?

Sorry, I also had to stop the scrubs on the HDD's also as when scrubs run it causes havoc on the disks and I would see HDD's coming on and offline, this may have also played some part in the entries?

Just so the full information is here I guess, so cannot run scrubs (which im sure is a bad thing but to be perfectly honest I never ran scrubs until this version of freenas and I have been on Freenas since v8 and update when they release)

If all seems ok at your end I guess it's all resolved :-)
