Description

The following symptom can be seen in FreeNAS-11.1-RELEASE

~ # ls -al / | grep sys
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 11 Dec 23 16:30 sys -> usr/src/sys
~ # file /sys
/sys: broken symbolic link to usr/src/sys

The existence of this broken symbolic link in the root directory seems to be independent of the underlying hardware and of the fact if a plain 11.1 install or an environment upgraded from 11.0-U4 is looked at.

Observation of this glitch was made by (german) forum user Michael Su.

Any ideas about this one?

base-os has it; this means that /sys was place in the installation directory for some reason. It's not a particularly bad thing, it just means something wasn't cleaned up after the build.

We've had this issue in trueos befoe also. Not a big deal imho. If you extract the sources then it resolves.
