Description

Hi there,

Upon selecting storage and then volume manager no disk appears to add volume too yet when I click on view disks my hard drive shows up, it doesn't allow me to create a space to save anything. I have tried swapping cables but that can't be the cause as it does show up. Please help

Just to verify: this system contains one disk and you installed FreeNAS on it instead of a USB stick?

Yes the system contains one disk and I installed FreeNAS onto a CD then booted from the CD.

But where did you install it to? The disk or a USB stick? The CD is just the installer.

FreeNAS isn't designed that way, you can't have the OS and your storage data on the same disk. Please refer to the Guide for details: http://doc.freenas.org/11/intro.html#the-operating-system-device.
