Description

After updating to FreeNAS 11.1-U1 the SMART service did not start automatically even though it was enabled for all drives. After disabling the Enable SMART option on Sandisk Cruzer Glide which is the boot drive where FreeNAS is installed the SMART service starts. If I want to enable SMART on the USB drive I added "-d sat, auto" to SMART extra options and then the SMART service runs as expected. I have verified that this was not an issue with FreeNAS 11.1 and prior to updating to 11.1-U1.

Actual error: freenas smartd10280: unable to register device dev/da7 (no Directive -d Removable) which is USB Boot Drive
