Description

I just updated my home NAS to 11.1-U5. It is currently at our office (syncing a replication over LAN), and my external tower with one of my pools is unplugged.

Since booting 11.1-U5, I notice a new warning I had not seen before, that the SMART service was not running. Looking at the console, I see this message:

"May 31 01:01:21 nas smartd17004: Unable to register device /dev/da4 (no Directive -d removable). Exiting."

I'd have expected to be able to SMART monitor the drives within the machine, even if the externally attached ones are unplugged.

Peter: this should be fixed for the next version, due out in a few weeks. In addition to the related ticket, are were quite a few SMART fixes in the upcoming release: https://redmine.ixsystems.com/versions/422.
