Description

It is not possible to set a system wide proxy respected by all subsystems for internet access.

You may, after remounting "/" rm set a proxy in "~/.cshrc", "~/.profile" and "~/.shrc". But this proxy is only available for one user and not respected by subsystems like update or plugin-install. Consequence: these subsystems can't contact update- or plugin-servers available on the internet. In tune updates or plugin-installs are not easily possible (and might -- the updates -- never be done which has security implications).
