From what I can tell the UPS is working correctly. pulling the power signals a shutdown and i can use upsc to communicate. But these log messages are not showing the same thing. I also frequently see connection lost and connection established log messages as well. I have played with the polling interval and polling frequency auxiliary parameters and haven't had any luck. Maybe there are some best practices for polling.

UPSd has been much improved since 9.1.1. Can you update to 9.2.1.3?
