This has been fixed in r1205/r5628. The solution was to blank the first and last few megabytes on the disk before trying to take over the disk, put gpt on it, etc.

The silent error that lead to this, however, hasn't been fixed. But that's logged as another bug.

Is there any way I can get more information on how this was fixed? Is it easier to find and use the r5628 version? How would one go about manually "blanking" the first and last few MB of the drives?
