Would be nice for those who like the extra fault protection of having multiple mirrors.

You can already create mirror pairs in the GUI for more redundancy. For example, with 4 drives simply drag the selection in the volume manager out to include 2 drives and then down. You can't have more than 2 drives in a mirror since that's not a mirror, if that's what you're asking for.

In ZFS land you can have N-way mirrors.
We could expose that to the volume manager....and maybe we already do, I'd have to check...however one thing we don't support in the GUI at all is the ability to attach a drive to a single drive vdev creating a two drive mirror vdev. (or attaching a drive to a N-drive mirror vdev, creating an N+1 mirror vdev) I believe there's already a ticket tracking this (filed by Sean)

Jordan,

You can have as many mirrors as you want. I've had quite a few FreeNAS customers that I consulted with that went with 3-way mirrors (and one that did 4 way mirrors!) This is one of the reasons why I hate the phrase "RAID-10" with regards to mirrors because AFAIK no RAID hardware can do 3-way mirrors in the same way that ZFS does.

Edit: and Josh beat me to the post. Oh well.

BRB: I stand corrected! Not sure about the Target version on this one yet, but I'll leave it in M3 for the time being. It doesn't seem to be killing us not to have this.

The GUI supports making N-way mirrors currently.
