Description

Hello

I use 9.2.1.6 with CIFS to share my files with my Windows client machines. Even if there's no data activity (i.e. through the night) i have lots of these messages in my log.smbd:

[2014/10/08 09:16:28.121081, 2] ../source3/smbd/server.c:437(remove_child_pid)
Could not find child 89866 -- ignoring

I searched and found a bug report (from debian however) which should have been fixed in samba 3.6.0
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=631118

On another site i found the hint to set:

printcap cache time = 0

in smb.conf. But as far as i understand, once the CIFS service gets restartet it automatically generates its smb.conf and i cannot add any changes.

How can this be fixed?

Best,

Thomas

what is your log level at? Looking at the source, this message is printed at level 2. If you crank your log level to 1 or 0, it will go away.

OK sorry my fault i wanted it at 2 to see messages when clients open/close files.
