Description

I cannot assign a specific NIC to a jail when VIMAGE is checked the NIC dropdown is not populated. It is populated if I uncheck VIMAGE.

9.3 Docs under adding a jail say:

NIC drop-down menu only available in “Advanced Mode” and will be greyed out if “VIMAGE” is unchecked; can be used to specify the interface to use for jail connections

I want to assign some jails to a differrent network/NIC and need to understand how this works. I think either the documentation is wrong, or the GUI is? I'm new to FreeNAS/BSD so please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm more a Linux guy.

I have 4 NICs available 2 of which are configured under Network>Interfaces correctly.

status: active

I can ssh the host on either ip.

When VIMAGE is checked, the NIC can't be specified. This is an error in the documentation. At some point in the future, this might be doable, but for now, the option is only available to traditional jails.

Over to you Dru ;-)
