Reconfigure swap on ZFS changes and fix behavior with single disk swap to mirror
maybe related Bug #35560
the default is, that a disk has a swap partition. yet once you take a disk offline (usually for planned removal), the swap partition on that disk currently stays active. IF you remove the disk, the fail one copy of the corresponding swap mirror, which is then fixed automatically. but there is more...
e.g. you want to run dd on a disk to write some sectors with permanent errors.
what you usually want to do is, take the disk offline and then be allowed to dd on the disk device. currently you manually have to take down the swap device, geli, gmirror, before you are allowed to. or is there a much better way and i am missing something how to deal with bad sectors?
also, IF the other swap device fails before the swap device was removed sucessfully, the system might panic. proactive removal of left-over swap seems safer.
